Following the launch of Infracontrol Online in Portugal, Spain and Denmark, it’s now Norway’s turn. During the fall, a collaboration was begun with Intelligent Solutions in Stavanger, which is in charge of developing the Infracontrol Community in the Norwegian market. Here too, there is a need to gain better control of society’s infrastructure and assure the quality of the technical administration within public operations. The automatic processing of fault reports, observations and alarms will allow customers to streamline operations and maintenance work, improve their service and free up resources for value-creating activities.
Geir Frode Skjæveland, CEO at Intelligent Solutions, sees great opportunities for establishing good partnerships with Norwegian municipalities:
“There are major opportunities for streamlining the technical administration of national and local government by improving and automating the flow of information. By making it easier for residents to report faults, and by collecting alarm data from technical installations, we gain access to valuable information that allows us to plan more effectively and take action faster. This means expensive disruptions are avoided and important resources are freed up.”
A growing international community
Infracontrol’s investment in the international market is off to an excellent start. Infracontrol Online is currently used by just over 140 customers, of which 25 are Portuguese municipalities. In addition to these, there are a number of nascent pilot customers in Spain and Denmark.
“Internationalization is an important part of our strategy,” says Johan Höglund, CEO. “Initially, it was all about verifying the service’s functions and our business model in an International market. Things have gone very well and we’ve now established operations in several countries.”
He tells us that one of the greatest assets arising from internationalization is Infracontrol Community’s creation of a circle where knowledge and experience can be shared across borders.
“Now we’re getting a stable, expansive partner in Norway who can help us extend our community with the Norwegian municipalities that use our cloud service. Every new member brings new know-how and helps strengthen our joint efforts to simplify and improve everyday life for residents, companies and visitors.”
Intelligent solutions
Intelligent Solutions is based in Stavanger and supplies new, intelligent solutions, chiefly within the area of traffic. This includes systems for traffic counting, parking information and electric vehicle charging. The business area Intelligent Applications comprises Infracontrol Online.
“Infracontrol’s cloud service is well-thought-out and tried-and-tested by Swedish municipalities, so I’m sure it will make a good contribution here in Norway,” says Geir Frode Skjæveland. “Its ability to process both alarms and fault reports in the same service is unique and an absolute necessity for Smart Cities.”
He goes on to say that the rapid development of new sensors and networks within the Internet of Things is driving the need for a general platform where information can be collected and processed in a simple, efficient manner.
